Nighthawks Drop Tough Decision to Becker

The Newbury College Nighthawks dropped their home and NECC season opener to visting Becker College today by a score of 4-5.  Newbury did not go down without a fight, however, as they received solid victories in both singles and doubles action.

Freshmen Matthew O'Donnell (Vernon, CT/Rockville) and John DiNuzzo (New City, NY/Ramapo) won both their singles and doubles matches but it still wasn't enough as Becker defeated Newbury for their first conference win of the season.  The match was deadlocked at four matches each and was decided by a long three-set match at the #5 singles where Ben Weiner (Barrington, RI/Barrington) of Newbury was defeated 6-4, 7-5, 7-5 by Becker's Peter Rota (Stockbridge, MA/Monument Mountain).
