Andrew Lafrenz will be entering his fourth season at Newbury College and third season as head coach of the men’s soccer team.

Before becoming head coach, Lafrenz spent a year as an assistant with the men’s soccer team in 2009 and helped the Nighthawks to the NECC semifinals. The Nighthawks have earned a post-season berth each season he has been with the program. In his first year as head coach, he led Newbury back to the semifinals in 2010 and then in 2011 they solidified their third straight appearance in the playoffs with a 5-2-1 record.

Prior to coming to Newbury, Lafrenz was the first assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Johnson State College as well as was also the Head Coach for the women’s club team at the University of Vermont from 2002-2007. During his tenure at Vermont, he led the team to two consecutive Northeast Intercollegiate Club Championships and three straight National Championship Tournament appearances.

Lafrenz will graduate in May with his Master’s in Coaching from Boston University.  In addition he is the head coach of the North Shore United U18 girls team.
