For the second straight year seniors Patrick Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) and Jessica Graus (Rochester, N.Y.) highlighted the 2011-12 Newbury College Athletic Banquet receiving Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2011-12 academic year.

Moosavizadeh Headlines Awards Show
Junior midfielder Shaundize Moosavizadeh (Winchester, Mass.) became the first Newbury College men’s soccer player to be tabbed as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Year since John Mawson (’09) earned the honors following the 2008 season. Moosavizadeh was selected to the All-Conference First Team and Player of the Year by the nine NECC head coaches.

Blazers Upset Nighthawks in First Round
The fifth seeded Elms College Blazers upset the fourth seeded Newbury College Nighthawks, 2-1, in the first round of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship Tournament. Elms advances onto the semifinals on Friday November 4th at 2:00 p.m. Sophomore Agostinho Lam registered the Nighthawks lone goal on a pass from Rodriquez Pierre in 88th minute.

Men’s Soccer Hosts First Round of NECC Championship
The Newbury College men’s soccer team earned their third straight trip to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship as the fourth seed with a 5-2-1 conference record. Seeking their third consecutive semifinals appearance, the Nighthawks will host the fifth seeded Blazers of Elms College on Wednesday November 2nd. The winner moves on to meet the top seed Southern Vermont College (11-4-1/6-0-1 NECC) in the semifinals on Friday November 4th.

Make It Four Years In A Row
There is something about Senior Days that senior defender Tim Chatigny (Pelham, Mass.) likes. As junior he scored the game-winner in overtime against Lesley University then in his own senior day he registered a pair of goals to help the Nighthawks blank New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) foe Wheelock College, 8-0.

Nighthawks Drop Non-Conference Game to Lions
The Newbury College men’s soccer team dropped a non-conference game to Emerson College, 2-1, Tuesday afternoon. Senior forward Ken Nikravesh (Geneva, Switzerland) registered both goals for the Lions as they went on to their ninth victory of the season.

Nighthawks Blank Falcons, 6-0
The Newbury College men’s soccer team answered yesterday’s 3-3 tie against Southern Vermont by shutting out non-conference Fisher College, 6-0, Sunday afternoon. Junior midfielder Shaundize Moosavizadeh jumped up into a two-way tie for third with 10 goals on the season, registering two first half goals against the Falcons in the Nighthawks’ fifth victory of the season.

McNally Helps Nighthawks to a 3-3 Stalemate
The Newbury College men’s soccer team came within six minutes of handing the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC ) leading Southern Vermont College Mountaineers their first conference loss of the season but had to settle for a 3-3 tie in a very physical shoot-out.

Flock of Eagles Fly Over Nighthawks
The Newbury College men’s soccer team dropped their first conference game of the 2011 season on the road against Daniel Webster College, 3-1, Tuesday afternoon. Junior midfielder Shaundize Moosavizadeh (Winchester, Mass.) registered his seventh goal of the season breaking the Eagles shut-out in the 62nd minute.

McNally Earns Conference Honors
Senior goalkeeper William McNally (Grafton, Mass.) garnered New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week honors after guiding the Nighthawks to back-to-back shut-outs for the first time in five years. The last time they blankd an opponent in two consecutive games win in 2006.

Mustangs Snap Nighthawks Win Streak
The Mt. Ida College Mustangs snapped the Newbury College men’s soccer team’s three game winning streak with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory Sunday afternoon. Cataldo Helps Nighthawks Improve to 4-0
Sophomore Nicholas Cataldo (Walpole, Mass./Sturgis Charter Public) registered the game-winner seven minutes into overtime to propel Newbury to the 1-0 victory over Mitchell College Saturday afternoon in New London, Conn. It was the Nighthawks second straight shut-out and first since 2006 when they shut-out Daniel Webster and Southern Vermont in back-to-back games.

The Newbury College men’s soccer team was shut-out, 4-0, by a quick and tough UMass-Boston team in non-conference action Wednesday evening in Weston, Mass. Despite the loss senior goalkeeper William McNally (Grafton, Mass./Marion) was on top of his game registering 14 saves in the contest.

Late Second-Half Goal Lifts Nighthawks Past Blazers, 2-1
The Newbury College men’s soccer team got the monkey off their back and are finally in the win column with a 2-1 victory over New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) foe Elms College Saturday afternoon. Junior Shaundize Moosavizadeh (Winchester, Mass.) scored the game-winner in the 81st minute to kick-off conference action in 2011.

Nighthawks Drop 2011 Opener to Pioneers
The Newbury College men’s soccer team dropped the 2011 season opener to non-conference William Paterson University, 7-0, Saturday afternoon in the Regis College Invitational. The Pioneers improve to 1-0-1 on the season while the Nighthawks drop to 0-1. But despite the loss, senior goalkeeper William McNally (Grafton, Mass.) played stoically in net for the Nighthawks and was not afraid of the Pioneer offense as the Grafton native registered 11 saves in the contest.

Nighthawks Tabbed 8th in Pre-Season Coaches Poll
Last season, the Newbury College men’s soccer team earned their second trip to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) semifinals after upsetting third seeded Becker College in the quarterfinals. This season the Nighthawks tied the Elms College Blazers, receiving 29 votes in the 2011 pre-season coaches poll voted on by all nine NECC head coaches.

Men's Soccer Kicks-Off 2011 at Regis Invitational
After graduating just one senior last May, the core group is coming back in 2011 for the Newbury College men’s soccer season in their second season under head coach Andrew Lafrenz. The Nighthawks are hungry for a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) title following two straight trips to the semifinals as they kick-off the fall at the two-day Regis Invitational on Saturday September 3rd and 4th.

Newbury Releases Fall Schedules
Newbury College announces release of the Fall 2011 schedules. Cross Country will open the 2011-2012 academic year on Friday September 2nd at the Mayflower Kickoff hosted by New England College while men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and women’s tennis will all be in action on the road on Saturday September 3rd.
