Nighthawks Fall to Eagles, 3-1
The Newbury College men’s soccer team fell to Daniel Webster College, 3-1, Sunday afternoon. Junior Alex Jackson (Kent, Ohio/Theodore Roosevelt) tallied two of the Eagles three goals in the victory.
Daniel Webster registered three unanswered goals before Newbury jumped on the scoreboard. Jackson found the back of the net 18 yards out, off a direct kick to give the Eagles the 1-0 advantage. The game remained a one-point contest for the next 15 minutes before freshman Jeffrey Bramucci (Ludlow, Mass./Ludlow) scored the game-winner.
In the 31st minute, Bramucci received a pass from junior Tim Amberman (Shrewsbury, Penn./ Susquehannock) and beat the defense from six yards out for the Eagles second goal. Eight minutes later, Daniel Webster added an insurance goal when sophomore Elliot Kilgore (Milford, N.H./Milford) connected with Jackson for the Ohio native’s second goal of the contest.
Newbury junior Andi Maska (Roslindale, Mass./English) broke up the shut-out 12 minutes into the second period. Freshman Agostinho Lam (Quincy, Mass./Arlington Catholic) found Maska alone on the left side for the Nighthawks lone goal.
