Noreasters Edge Nighthawks, 3-2
The Newbury College men's soccer team lost to the University of New England, 3-2, Monday afternoon. Sophomore Kiel Hiller (Galloway, NJ/Absegmi) led the Noreasters to their seventh victory with two goals.
Freshman Kevin Tarr (Hermon, ME/Hermon) found the back of the net 17 minutes into the contest to give the University of New England the early one goal advantage. Five minutes later, Hiller scored his first goal of the game in front of the net. His second goal of the game came towards the end of the half when junior Elia Del Molino (Glendale, MA/Monument Mountain Regional) found him upfront to give the Noreasters the 3-0 lead.
Freshman Alex Chappell (East Haddam, CT/Nathan Hale-Ray) scored both of the Nighthawks' two goals in the game. One minute into the second period, sophomore Andi Maska (Roslindale, MA/English) found Chappell to put Newbury on the scoreboard. Towards the tail end of the match, freshman Hector Abudoj (Honduras/American School of Tequcigalpa) found his classmate to bring the Nighthawks within a goal.
With the loss, Newbury falls to 0-7 on the season. They will return to the pitch on Wednesday when they travel to Waltham to face the Judges of Brandeis University at 4:00pm. Their next home contest will be Saturday October 3rd against Mitchell College at 12:00 pm.
