Beacons Shutout Nighthawks

The Newbury College men's soccer team lost to the University of Masschusetts, Boston, 4-0 Thursday afternoon. Junior Alex Cavallero (Lenox, MA/Lenox) and sophomore Mike Zazzura (Dedham, MA/Dedham) both had a goal and an assist in the victory.

UMass jumped on the board midway through the first period. Unassisted, Cavallero found the back of the net for the Beacons first goal of the game. Four minutes later, sophomore Igor DaCruz (Cambridge, MA/Cambridge Rindge & Latin) headed in UMass's second goal of the game from Zazzara.

In the second half, the Beacons put two more goals on the board. Freshman Luis Saquich (Marlborough, MA/Marlborough) scored on a pass from Cavallero, ten minutes into the period. Later freshman Karim Boubess (Beirut, Lebanon/International College) found Zazzura for the final goal of the game.

Despite the loss, the Nighthawks had another solid game from Sophomore Goal Keeper William McNally (Grafton, MA/Marian) as he recorded 14 saves in the loss.

The Nighthawks drop to 1-10 on the season while the Beacons improve to 4-4-1. Newbury returns to the pitch Saturday afternoon against Wheelock College at 12:00pm.
