The 2009 NECC All-Conference Mens Soccer Team Announced
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - All eight sponsored programs were represented on the 2009 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men's Soccer All-Conference Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. In addition to the All-NECC honors, four separate major individual award winners and the team sportsmanship award were also voted upon and selected this week.

Lesley defeats Newbury 1-0 to reach NECC Championship
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. The Lesley University (15-3-2, 5-1-1 NECC) mens soccer team defeated Newbury College (6-14, 5-2 NECC) 1-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Semifinals to reach to the championship match for the second consecutive season. Ari Sinanis (GUILFORD, Conn./Guilford) scored the matchs lone goal to lift the Lynx to victory.

Nighthawks Soar Past Blazers
The Newbury College mens soccer team defeated Elms College, 5-1 in Wednesday afternoons NECC Quarterfinal match at Pine Manor College for their first NECC post-season victory. After playing the first 37 minutes without a goal, the Nighthawks jumped on the board first. Newbury freshman Shaundize Moosavizadeh (Winchester, MA/Winchester) found the back of the net off a rebound from Newbury junior Joseph Lawer (Worcester, MA/Burncoat).

Daniel Webster Tops Newbury, 5-1
Nashua It was a senior day to remember for Daniel Webster College mens soccer team captain Andre Garcia (Springfield, Mass.). Playing in his final regular season collegiate game in arguably one of the most important outings in program history, Garcia erupted for a career high four goals guiding his Eagles past upstart Newbury College, 5-1 to give the Eagles the outright NECC Regular Season Crown the first ever title for the program since its inception in 1993.

Nighthawks Soar on Senior Day
In their final home game of the season, the Newbury College mens soccer team honored their departing two seniors on Senior Day by defeating conference foe Becker College, 2-0. The shutout victory propelled the Nighthawks to their fifth conference victory. Seniors Hayato Iwahori (Tokyo Japan/Megura-Gakuin) and Nicholas Sehovich (Pelham, NH/Pelham) were acknowledged for their years of dedication to the mens soccer program.

Nighthawks Fail to Tame Lions
The Newbury College mens soccer team dropped a non-conference match today to visiting Emerson College by a score of 5-0. Chris Nenchati (Swampscott, MA/Swampscott) led the Lions with two goals while teammate Nick Giles (Wakefield, RI/South Kingstown) added one goal and one assist. Nighthawk goalkeeper William McNally (Grafton, MA/Marian) recorded 13 saves on the afternoon and looks to lead his squad to a New England Collegiate Conference victory over Daniel Webster College tomorrow afternoon.

Beavers Hold Off Nighthawks, 2-1
The Newbury College mens soccer team lost to the University of Maine Farmington, 2-1 in a non-conference match Wednesday afternoon. Newbury was able to tighten the match with two minutes left to play when sophomore Andi Maska (Roslindale, MA/English) found the back of the net on a pass from senior Hayato Iwahori (Tokyo, Japan/Meguro-Gakuin) to put the Nighthawks on the board.

Newbury Outlasts Elms, 1-0
CHICOPEE, MA - Elms College senior goalkeeper Nick Pellegrini (Ludlow, MA) collected three saves, but Newbury Colleges Hector Abudoj (Tegucigalpa) netted what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 85th minute to help lift the Nighthawks to a thrilling 1-0 victory over the Blazers in Saturday afternoons New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) mens soccer game during Homecoming weekend.

The Newbury College mens soccer team upset visiting Lesley University today in a thrilling overtime 2-1 victory on a rain-soaked field in Chestnut Hill, MA. Andi Maska (Roslindale, MA/English) led his squad with an assist in the first half and the game-winner just over three minutes into the overtime period.

Shaundize Moosavizadeh (Winchester, Mass.) and Nicholas Sehovich (Pellham, NH) each scored a pair of goals Saturday afternoon to lead Newbury College to a 4-1 win over Wheelock College in New England Collegiate Conference action. The win improves the Nighthawks to 2-1 in the conference, while the Wildcats continue searching for the first victory in program history.

Newbury Men's Soccer Falls to MA Maritime 3-1
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Sophomore Kevin McCord (Norwell, Mass.) scored a pair of goals in a 3:17 span midway through the second half to snap a 1-1 tie and propel Massachusetts Maritime to a 3-1 non-league college mens soccer victory over Newbury Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium. The host Buccaneers (4-5-1) trailed by a goal at the break after sophomore Andi Maska (Roslindale, Mass.) converted a rebound of a header by freshman Alex Chappell (East Haddam, Conn.) that gave the visiting Nighthawks (1-9) an early 1-0 edge in the 28th minute.

Newbury Earns First Victory at Mitchell
NEW LONDON, Conn. The Mitchell College mens soccer team lost a 2-0 decision to Newbury College on Sunday afternoon in a conference match-up. Andi Maska (Roslindale, Mass.) scored both goals for the Nighthawks (1-8-0 overall, 1-1-0 NECC), who earned their first victory of the season. Mitchell dropped to 2-6-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play.

The Newbury College mens soccer team lost to the University of New England, 3-2, Monday afternoon. Freshman Alex Chappell (East Haddam, CT/Nathan Hale-Ray) scored both of the Nighthawks two goals in the game. One minute into the second period, sophomore Andi Maska (Roslindale, MA/English) found Chappell to put Newbury on the scoreboard. Towards the tail end of the match, freshman Hector Abudoj (Honduras/American School of Tequcigalpa) found his classmate to bring the Nighthawks within a goal.

Nighthawks Fall to Raiders
The Newbury College mens soccer team is still in search of win number one on the 2009 season as they suffered a tough 3-0 loss to visiting Rivier College today in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Raiders scored one goal in the first and two in the second half to seal the victory. Steven Gratta (Hull, MA/Hull) registered five saves on the day as aiding the solid effort of Andy Osei (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) had several key runs, but was unable to capitalize on the attempts.

After jumping out to the early 1-0 lead four minutes into the contest, the Bison countered with three unanswered goals for a 3-1 victory. Sophomore Andy Osei (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) rebounded a shot-on-goal from freshman Hector Adudoj (Honduras/American School of Tequcigalpa) to put the Nighthawks on the board first.

Seahawks Overpower Nighthawks
The Seahawks of Salve Regina University proved to be too much for the Newbury College Nighthawks this afternoon in mens soccer action. Visitors Christopher Knoth (East Slip, NY/East Slip) and Ian Jengtgen (Columbus, OH/St. Charles Prep) each chipped in one goal and one assist a piece en route to the 5-0 victory over the host Nighthawks. The structured Seahawk offense came out strong to start the game, peppering Nighthawk keeper William McNally (Grafton, MA/Marian) with six shots within the first 20 minutes of play until Tony Lania (Concord, MA/Concord-Carlisle) found the back of the net at 22:23, assisted by Jengtgen.

Pride Shuts Out Nighthawks
The Newbury College mens soccer team lost their home opener in a tough battle with Regis College Thursday afternoon. Freshman Juan Deleon (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) scored the lone goal for the Pride mid-way through the first half to give the Pride the 1-0 victory.

Saints Shutout Newbury in Home Opener
BOSTON, Mass. The Emmanuel College Mens Soccer Team cruised to a 4-0 shutout of Newbury College in the Saints home opener. The win for Emmanuel marked the season opener for both teams, as well as the first intercollegiate athletic event to be played on the newly renovated Roberto Clemente Field. Senior forward Corey McLean (Lincolnville, Maine) paced the Saints with 2 goals and an assist, while sophomore keeper Patrick Froass (Oneida, N.Y.) picked up the win in net for Emmanuel.
