Bernard Earns NECC All Conference Second Team

Sophomore forward Peterson Bernard (Boston, Mass./Madison Park) was named to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) All Conference second team. Bernard helped the Newbury College men’s basketball to an 8-6 conference record (11-15 overall) and their first NECC semifinals appearance, averaging a double-double on the season (15.6 ppg, 10.0 rpg).

The second year transfer finished with a team-high 390 points as well as recorded 12 double-doubles including five straight in his last five games. Throughout the course of the season, Bernard notched 20-plus points four times. On January 22, 2011 against Mitchell College in New London, Conn., he netted a career game-high 28 points in the 14-point victory over the Mariners.

In addition, the 6’8” forward was a force under the glass pulling down a team-high 249 rebounds while rejecting a team-high 36 opposing field goals.
