Nighthawks Drop Conference Opener to Hawks

The Newbury College Men's basketball team were defeated 79-35 by Becker College.  Rajai Leggett (New Haven, CT) led the Hawks with 17 points and 12 rebounds bringing their season record to 8-1 and 1-0 in NECC conference play.  Newbury College falls to 1-8 and 0-1 in the NECC. 

The Hawks came out of the box strong by scoring 10 unanswered points to begin the 1^st half.  The Nighthawks clawed back to striking distance half way through the 1^st half but were not able to overcome the Becker College offense.  Despite the efforts of Eric Watson (New Rochelle, NY), who led Newbury with 16 points and 5 boards, the team's 15 second half turnovers proved fatal.  Markus Wright (New Haven, CT) led the Hawks offense with 9 points and 5 rebounds in the 2^nd half. 

The Nighthawks return to the hard-court following the winter break on January 6, 2011 when they are on the road against Wentworth Institute of Technology at 6:00pm.  Becker College will continue their season on December 30 being hosted by Worcester Polytechnic Institute at 4:00pm.
