O'Connell, Young, & Beck Sweep NECC Awards

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK -Newbury College freshman center Catherine O'Connell (Quincy, Mass.) helped picked up another weekly double double averaging 12.0 points per game and 10.3 rebounds per game.  O'Connell also managed 3.0 assists per game, 1.6 blocks per game and 0.3 steals per game.  For the week, she shot 50% (14-for-28) from the field and 67% (8-for-12) from the line.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

PLAYER AND ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Newbury College freshman guard Tim Young (Brockton, Mass.) helped the Nighthawks to a 1-1 week defeating Daniel Webster 61-59 and narrowly falling to Southern Vermont 77-75.   He averaged 28.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.5 steals. For the week, Young shot 57% (21-for-37) from the field, 63% (10-for-16) from the three-point line and 63% (5-for-8) from the free-throw line.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL

PLAYER OF THE WEEK -Newbury College junior outside hitter James Beck (Havre De grace, Md.) led the Nighthawks to a 3-0 week sweeping Daniel Webster, Emerson and Southern Vermont. Beck had 32 kills, ten digs, seven blocks, four assists and four service aces. He nailed a .566 attack percentage with only three errors on the week.  For the nine sets, Beck tallied 4.6 kills per set, 1.4 digs per set, 0.5 aces per set and 1.9 blocks per set.
