Eagles KO Nighthawks, Gain NECC Semifinals
It took 11 years almost to the day, but the Daniel Webster College men’s basketball team is advancing to the next round of the postseason. In the loss, Walky Magliore (Waltham, Mass.) led the Nighthawks (7-19) with a game high 27 points and added seven boards, while Kevin Cleveland (Lynn, Mass.) notched 13 points and eight rebounds and John Rowley, Jr. (Hartford, Conn.) chipped in with 12 points.

Seniors Shine Despite Nighthawk Loss
Kevin Cleveland (Lynn, MA/Lynn) and Walky Magloire (Waltham, MA/Waltham) capped off their Newbury careers with everything but a win tonight vs. Daniel Webster College. The two combined for 33 points, nine rebounds, and 14 assists in a tough 85-70 loss to the Eagles.

Newbury Falls Despite Perfect Night by Magloire
Senior Nighthawk Walky Magloire (Waltham, MA/Waltham) finished the night a perfect 8-8 from the field and 6-6 from the free throw line; but his 22 points would not be enough to stifle the Becker starters who combined for all 78 of the Hawks’ points. With the loss (78-62), Newbury drops to 4-8 in conference play, while Becker improves to 9-3.

Blazers Outrun Nighthawks
The Newbury College Men’s Basketball lost an NECC conference game to visiting Elms College by a score of 78-59 today in Brookline, MA. While the Nighthawks saw three players score in double figures, the Blazers received contributions from 14 of their student-athletes allowing them to pull away with the victory.

Nighthawks Edge Lynx
The Newbury College Men’s Basketball team is peaking at the right time. Hosting Lesley University Tuesday night at Hellenic College, the Nighthawks defeated the Lynx in a dramatic 56-54 victory to pick up their seventh win of the season.

Nighthawks Defeated on Milestone Night
The Newbury Men’s Basketball team dropped their 6th straight game tonight by a score of 84-57 to the visiting Falcons of Fitchburg State College. Despite the loss, the milestones of two Nighthawks were recognized as seniors Kevin Cleveland (Lynn, MA/Lynn) and Walky Magloire (Waltham, MA/Waltham) were honored for reaching 1,000 career points.

Mariners Outlast Nighthawks
The Newbury College Men’s Basketball team dropped to 2-4 in the NECC, losing to Mitchell College by a score of 68-53 today at Hellenic College. The Nighthawks failed to capitalize in the second half, allowing the Mariners to pull away with the victory.

Nighthawks Falter in Second Half
The Newbury Men’s Basketball team dropped a tough NECC conference match-up to the visiting Wildcats of Wheelock College, losing by a score of 79-61. The two teams battled in the first half going almost point-for-point, but the Wildcats would pull away after the break, holding the Nighthawk starters to just 19 points.

Gordon Defeats Newbury
The Newbury College Men’s Basketball team had been undefeated on their home court since January 24, 2008 until the Fighting Scots of Gordon College arrived. Using a highly disciplined offense, they defeated the Nighthawks by a score of 84-66 tonight at Hellenic College.

The Newbury College Men’s Basketball team defeated visiting Southern Vermont College by a score of 70-60 tonight at Hellenic College improving the Nighthawks’ record to 5-7.

Nighthawks Shine in Home Opener
The Newbury College Men’s Basketball team battled with visiting Eastern Nazarene College coming away with a 66-60 victory in their home opener. The Nighthawks were led by Paul Beckford Jr. (Somerville, MA/Somerville) who dominated the boards with ten rebounds; while Kevin Cleveland (Lynn, MA/Lynn) and Walky Magloire (Waltham, MA/Waltham) each finished with 16 points.
