11 Spring Student-Athletes Named Academic All-Conference

A total of 11 Newbury College winter and spring student-athletes were named to the 2014 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference team for the 2014 spring semester, announced Tuesday morning.

Men's tennis seniors Steve Carey (Andover, Mass.) and John Morgan (Cumberland, R.I.) were the only two back-to-back Academic All-Conference selections. They were joined by nine first time selections including six members of the Nighthawk baseball team.

To be eligible for the NECC Academic All-Conference team, a student-athlete must post a minimum, cumulative grade-point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class standings. Student-athletes who competed in men's and women's cross country, men's golf, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball were eligible for the fall NECC academic honors.
