Curry Garners NECC Accolades
Junior catcher Patrick Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) earned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week honors helping Newbury to a 3-0 week and breaking two Nighthawk records in the process. Curry helped the Nighthawks to the comeback victory over non-conference Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday March 22nd then guided Newbury to the sweep of Lesley, 8-2 and 9-2.
On the week Curry hit .692 (9-for-13) with two doubles, a triple and an inside-the-park homerun while driving in seven RBIs. Against the Lynx, he leap-frogged over William Maddock in career hits and runs batted in. He surpassed Maddock in RBIs when he lined a triple into right to plate two runs in the bottom of the third in game one. In the second game, Curry became Newbury's all-time leader in hits driving a two-run, inside-the-park homerun to straightaway centerfield.
