NECC SAAC HOLDS WEEKEND SPORTSMANSHIP RETREAT IN SPRINGFIELD
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) held its first weekend retreat for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to help communicate and instruct the SAAC reps to bring back sportsmanship initiatives to their campuses. Sportsmanship was this years focus for the NECC throughout all member institutions.

Newbury College SAAC Volunteers at 2009 Jimmy Fund Walk
The Newbury College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered their time at the 21st annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk on Sunday, September 13, 2009. This marked Newburys third year volunteering at the Walk and supporting the fight against cancer. Part of the Nighthawk SAAC mission is to service the community; and based on the smiles on the faces of the walkers, they did just that. Nearly seventy Nighthawk student-athletes, representing 12 out of 13 of Newburys varsity programs took part in the days festivities.

Newbury College Student Athlete Advisory Committee Lends a Hand at 2008 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk
The Newbury College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered their time at the 20th annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk on Sunday, September 21, 2008. Thousands of walkers participated in the event and raised more than $6 million. Whether the participants logged 26.2, 13.1, or 5 miles; the water, snacks, and cheers they encountered at the final Water Stop before the Copley Square finish were outstanding motivation for the home stretch.
