Newbury College Student Athlete Advisory Committee Lends a Hand at 2008 Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk
The Newbury College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered their time at the 20th annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk on Sunday, September 21, 2008. Thousands of walkers participated in the event and raised more than $6 million. Whether the participants logged 26.2, 13.1, or 5 miles; the water, snacks, and cheers they encountered at the final Water Stop before the Copley Square finish were outstanding motivation for the home stretch.
This marked Newbury's second year volunteering at the Walk and supporting the fight against cancer. Part of the Nighthawk SAAC mission is to service the community; and based on the smiles on the faces of the walkers, they did just that.
Seventeen Nighthawk student-athletes, representing eight of Newbury's varsity programs; and 3 members of Newbury's Coaching Staff took part in the day's festivities -
