In addition to her softball duties, Capello will also serve as the Athletic Department's Game Management Coordinator and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Advisor.
In 2009-2010, Capello helped lead the Nighthawks to an overall record of 12-23, at ten-win gain from 2008-2009. Newbury faced a competitive 38 game schedule; which included traveling to ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex for spring training, as well as a 16 game New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) schedule. After claiming the final playoff spot, the Nighthawks lost in the first round leaving plenty of incentive for 2010-2011. For their commitment to the values of the game, the Nighthawks were given the NECC Sportsmanship Award at the culmination of the season.
In 2008, the softball program amassed a 13-24 overall record and a second place finish in the Association of Division III Independents Championship Tournament. Here, the Nighthawks eliminated four of the other five competitors en route to the championship game highlighted by a 9-8 come from behind, walk-off victory over University of Maine – Presque Isle in the semifinals.
During the 2007 season, Capello helped bring immediate life to a program who had finished 0-22 prior to her arrival. The Nighthawks finished a program best overall record of 11-10 and qualified for the Association of Division III Independents Championship Tournament.
A native of Hanover, MA Capello was a four-year letter winner at Division II Stonehill College where she played four years of outfield. While at Stonehill, Capello earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminology and just recently received her master's degree in Social Work from Boston College.
